Board vacancies

The board of VSA Netherlands is looking for new board members for the 2021/2022 academic year. Would you like to help the growing network of Vegan Student Associations in the Netherlands? The board of the national umbrella supports the individual VSAs by collecting and sharing resources and best practices, organizing national events, speaking to (inter)national business and non-profit organizations, and helping students start new VSAs.

We are looking for vegan students (or recent former students) who are or have been a member of a VSA and who support our Shared Mission & Values Statement. There will be five positions on the next board: president, secretary, treasurer, head of marketing, and head of external affairs. Below you can read the tasks of each position, as well as the qualifications we are looking for.

All positions

What you’ll be doing?
  • Writing documents with tips and best practices for the individual VSAs
  • Being the contact person for one or more individual VSAs
  • Being the contact persons for board members of individual VSAs that share similar tasks to your positions
What we are looking for?
  • Utmost attention to the needs of individual VSAs and eagerness to fulfill them
  • Ability to think critically and rationally, and to formulate your own opinion
  • Demonstration of healthy team traits and ability to promote cooperation
  • Solid written and oral communication skills in English
  • Reliability and trustworthiness 
  • Ability to commit to on average 8-12 hours per week to VSA Netherlands (it varies per week)


What you’ll be doing?
  • Chairing over board meetings
  • Chairing over the GA
  • Making sure the board runs smoothly
  • Being the spokesperson for the association
  • Being the contact point for local boards of new VSAs
What we are looking for?
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with individual VSAs with sensitivity
  • Ability to lead and moderate discussions at board meetings and general assemblies so they are focused and balanced and a decision is reached in a timely manner
  • Public-speaking skills
  • And preferably:
    • Understanding of how individual VSAs operate
    • Ability to inspire and empower
    • Experience with starting a VSA


What you’ll be doing?
  • Preparing the agenda of board meetings
  • Writing minutes of board meeting
  • Writing minutes of the GA
  • Checking the board email and sending general information to individual VSAs via email
  • Running the Discord-channel
What we are looking for?
  • Ability to produce accurate and objective notes at meetings
  • Ability to keep an overview of existing and future tasks


What you’ll be doing?
  • Handling association finances
  • Preparing budgets
  • Preparing financial reports
  • Fundraising and helping VSAs get funding
What we are looking for?
  • Ability to work with great accuracy
  • Ability to create realistic budgets and accurately estimate costs and income
  • Ability to think innovatively and critically about budget ideas
  • Ability to successfully raise funds 
  • Comfortableness when working with numbers (basic math)
  • And preferably:
    • Comfortableness around Excel and/or Google Sheets

Head of Marketing

What you’ll be doing?
  • Running the social media channels
  • Promotion through but not limited to ad-campaigns
  • Keeping the website up-to-date
What we are looking for?
  • Strong eye for design
  • Experience with tools for designing social media posts (e.g. Canva)
  • Ability to successfully grow a highly engaged social media community
  • And preferably:
    • Understanding of social media trends
    • Experience with photo editing tools, video editing tools and/or WordPress
    • Flexibility in your schedule

Head of External Affairs

What you’ll be doing?
  • Arranging discounts and free samples
  • Being the contact person for partner organizations and (inter)national businesses
  • Coordinating the organization of national events
What we are looking for?
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to network and build alliances 
  • Ability to manage complex projects in an effective manner
  • Planning and organisational skills
  • And preferably:
    • Experience with chairing meetings (e.g. committee)
